Petroleum University of Vietnam Collaborates with VCCI HCM and Danish Industry to Advance Green Energy Workforce Development

On July 13th in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Petroleum University (PVU) - an institution under the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) - held a working session with the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Danish Industry (DI) to exchange cooperation orientations on developing green skills, green transition, and building high-quality training programs for the energy sector.

Background of Participating Organizations

Vietnam Petroleum University (PVU) is a high-quality human resource training institution for the petroleum and energy sectors, operating under the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam). With a long history of training and research in the energy field, the university has made significant contributions to the development of Vietnam's energy industry.

Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Ho Chi Minh City branch represents the Vietnamese business community, with the mission of promoting economic development, supporting enterprises, and creating a favorable business environment. VCCI HCM serves as an important bridge between businesses and educational institutions.

Danish Industry (DI) represents the Danish industrial sector, with particular strengths in green technology and renewable energy. Denmark is recognized as a global leader in renewable energy and sustainable solutions, particularly in wind energy.

Meeting Discussion Points

During the meeting, representatives from the three parties discussed in depth cooperation orientations in training human resources for the green energy sector. The main topics included:

  • Developing training programs on green skills and energy transition
  • Creating cooperation models between educational institutions and businesses
  • Organizing short-term and long-term training courses on renewable energy
  • Technology transfer and management experience in sustainable energy
  • Promoting research and application of green energy solutions in Vietnam

Developing Green Skills Training Programs

In the context of Vietnam's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, training human resources with green energy skills has become an urgent requirement. The three parties agreed to jointly build comprehensive training programs, including both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, to meet the actual demands of the labor market.

Industry-Education Partnership

To ensure training quality, PVU will cooperate with VCCI HCM to connect with domestic and foreign enterprises, creating opportunities for students to gain practical work experience. Businesses will participate in the development of training programs, provide practical instructors, and create internship opportunities for students.

International Technology Transfer and Experience Sharing

Through cooperation with DI, PVU will gain access to advanced technologies and management experience in Denmark's renewable energy sector. This presents a valuable opportunity to enhance PVU's research and training capabilities, while contributing to Vietnam's energy transition process.

The Importance of Green Energy Workforce Training

Vietnam is undergoing a strong transition toward using renewable energy and sustainable development. According to plans, the proportion of renewable energy in Vietnam's total energy supply will increase from approximately 10% in 2020 to 20-25% by 2030 and reach 30-35% by 2050.

To achieve these targets, Vietnam needs a high-quality workforce with knowledge and skills in green energy technology. The collaboration between PVU, VCCI HCM, and DI will significantly contribute to meeting this demand.
