On June 19, 2026, in Hanoi, the National Press Conference 2026 was officially inaugurated. The event brought together hundreds of journalists, editors, reporters, and media professionals from across the country. During the opening ceremony, Comrade Trinh Van Quyet, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee delivered an important speech.

Dear Party and State leaders;



Distinguished delegates and guests;



On behalf of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, I would like to warmly welcome the National Press Conference 2026. This important event marks a new development stage of revolutionary Vietnamese journalism in the context of the country's strong development momentum.



I. Achievements and Contributions of Revolutionary Journalism

In recent years, under the leadership of the Party, revolutionary Vietnamese journalism has achieved many proud accomplishments. The press has effectively performed its role as the Party and State's mouthpiece, reflecting the aspirations and desires of the people, and making important contributions to the cause of national construction and development.



Specifically:


  • The press has promptly informed the public about the Party and State's guidelines and policies.
  • It has criticized and criticized negative and wrongful manifestations in social life.
  • It has actively promoted and publicized the image of Vietnam and its people to the world.
  • It has contributed to building cultural and spiritual life, improving public education, and promoting the great unity of the entire nation.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications, by the end of 2025, the country has more than 800 press agencies, with over 25,000 professional journalists, editors, and tens of thousands of contributors. The number of readers accessing information through the press reached over 90% of the population.

II. Challenges in the New Context

However, alongside the achievements, revolutionary journalism is also facing many new challenges:


  • The strong development of digital media and social media requires more radical innovation.
  • Increasing competition for information and reader attraction.
  • Risks of misinformation, fake news, and toxic content.
  • Pressure on quality, speed, and operational efficiency in the context of a market economy.

III. Development Orientation for Journalism in the Coming Time

To continue promoting the role and position of revolutionary journalism, Comrade Trinh Van Quyet proposed several important orientations:



1. On political ideology: Continue to strengthen and enhance the Party's leadership over the press; firmly maintain the goals of national independence and socialism; protect the Party's ideological foundation, and safeguard the Party's and State's guidelines, policies, and lines.



2. On organizational and operational model innovation: Strongly promote the application of digital technology, digital transformation of journalism; develop multi-form, multi-platform media; improve the quality of content and form to meet the diverse information needs of the public.



3. On human resources: Invest in training and fostering a team of journalists, editors with sufficient political qualities, professional ethics, professional competence, and information technology skills.



4. On state management: Improve the legal system on journalism; strengthen management of press operations in the new context; strictly handle violations in journalism, especially fake news and toxic content.



IV. Conclusion

In concluding his speech, Comrade Trinh Van Quyet affirmed: "The Party and State always pay attention and create all favorable conditions for the development of revolutionary journalism. The National Press Conference 2026 is an occasion for us to summarize, evaluate, and propose new orientations for the press development in the coming period. I believe that with the unity, creativity, and efforts of the entire press system, revolutionary Vietnamese journalism will continue to play an important role in the cause of building and protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam."
